EXPLORE QUEBEC
October 4th-15th, 2023
Tour level: active-designed for people who are physically fit and capable of walking fairly long
distances at a reasonable pace, and able to negotiate stairs easily and rough terrain on a busy
schedule.
There is so much history, unique French Culture, amazing architecture, and beautiful landscapes
throughout this province, giving this tour a unique flavour.
Wednesday, October 4th - We depart at 8AM from Walmart North parking lot, with stops on route for
coffee and lunch as we make our way to Pembroke for the overnight.

Thursday, October 05th - After our included breakfast, we depart for Orford, Quebec. Along the way we
travel through the Eastern Townships (Magog), with a scenic diversion on Quebec’s wine route. We will
enjoy a visit to an award-winning winery for a tour and tasting! Our day ends at our lakeside hotel in
Orford with dinner included. We will spend 2 nights here.

Friday, October 06th - Today starts with a visit to "St. Benoit Abbey" where we learn about the lives of the
more than 50 cloistered monks living under the rule of St. Benedict. We then continue on to the town of
Stanstead, home of some magnificent 19th century buildings - considered to be one of Quebec’s most
beautiful villages. There will be some free time to enjoy the village and enjoy lunch on your own. Our last
stop will be a visit to the "Colby-Curtis Museum", which is a heritage house built in the 19th century. We
have included an English Tea at the museum before we make our way back to the hotel. We will co-ordinate a dinner option this evening.

Saturday, October 07th - This morning we will depart for Quebec City. We will have lunch on your
own. We will have a 3NT stay at "Hotel Manoir Victoria", our hotel is located inside the fortification walls
and is within walking distance to the city center. We will have dinner included this evening.

Sunday, October 08th – We will begin our day after breakfast with sightseeing with Step on Guide
around Old Quebec and of the surrounding area with beautiful landscapes. We will have a visit to "Chez
Marie Bread Oven" to sample their famous maple butter and bread. Lunch will be included on the Island
of Orleans. A tour is at the "Bilodeau Orchard", on the Ile d’Orleans where cider making is an art form
with a tasting. We then return to Quebec City and the balance of the day is yours to explore Old
Quebec’s enchanting streets and the local shops all within walking distance of our hotel.

Monday, October 09th - Day at leisure to wander and explore Old Quebec and visit places such as
Citadelle, Plains of Abraham, Quebec Parliament and do some shopping and much more on your own
as we give our driver the day off.

Tuesday, October 10th - Breakfast included. This morning we do a short drive to "Montmorency Falls".
Then we board a train journey that takes us along the St. Lawrence River and through the Charlevoix
Region and stop at "Baie-St-Paul" which is a charming little town of artisans. You will have free time to
browse the many shops and enjoy lunch on your own at one of the quaint bistros. Later we board our
coach and travel to "Tadoussac", which includes a very short ferry ride onto the island, for 2NT stay.

Wednesday, October 11th - Breakfast included. This morning we enjoy a visit to the "Marine Mammal
Interpretation Centre". After lunch we will board a whale-watching cruise boat on the St. Lawrence
River. Balance of your day will be at leisure to enjoy one of the walking trails by our hotel.

Thursday, October 12th - This morning we depart for Montreal travelling on the first road ever built in
New France called the “Le Chemin du Roi” where you will see some of the area’s oldest homes.

Friday, October 13th - Today starts with a sightseeing tour of Montreal with a local step-on guide,
followed by lunch included. This afternoon, a visit to "Montreal’s Botanical Gardens & Biodome" which
is ranked as the world’s largest and most spectacular. We will end our tour after an included visit to the
"Notre Dame Basilica". The balance of the day is free, enjoy one of the city’s many unique museums, do
some shopping or just simply enjoy the sights and sounds of this great city, visit the Montreal Canadians
Bell Centre Arena or try your luck at the casino.

Saturday, October 14th - Today we begin our journey home, as we travel back to Pembroke for our last
overnight.

Sunday, October 15th - Breakfast included at our hotel and then we head for home to Sault Ste Marie
with our usual stops and drop offs and chance to share pictures and memories of our adventure on the
bus ride home. We are expecting an early evening arrival.
