"Sugar, Shows & Spices"
Stratford & St Mary's
September 8th – 12th, 2026
Tour Level: “Moderate” - Capable of moving with group through the attractions.
For this tour, we travel through Ontario to Stratford and St Mary’s, Ontario. These are
beautiful small towns in Southwestern Ontario. We know Stratford as a theatre
destination, and we will be taking in a few shows of course, but we wanted to focus a bit
more on the surroundings and the smalltown atmosphere in that area. This is a lovely
area to explore with many exciting adventures to be had.
Tuesday, September 8th - We depart Walmart North parking lot at 8:00am on our luxury motor
coach for a fun filled escape. We will travel through Ontario, with stops for breaks and reach
Stratford after our included dinner at the Mandarin Restaurant in Kitchener, Ontario. We will
check into our hotel for a 4-night stay.
Meals: Dinner
Wednesday, September 9th – After our included breakfast, we head to the charming town of St
Mary’s , known for its historic limestone buildings and picturesque setting. We will start
with a visit to the St Mary’s Museum for a guided tour and will follow up with a hop-on historic
tour of the town with a guide from the Museum. After our tour, we will stop downtown St Mary’s
for a bit of shopping in their unique stores, and lunch on your own. After lunch we will experience
a "Spice Mixing Workshop" at Troyer’s Spice Shop to create our own unique flavours. After we
spice things up, we visit Stonetown Artisan Cheese factory and store for a guided tour of their
factory and tasting of their delicious cheeses. After our cheese adventure, we head to the hotel
for dinner on your own and a free evening.
Meals: Breakfast
Thursday, September 10th – After our included breakfast this morning we will depart the hotel
to visit Rheo Thompson Candies downtown Stratford. This shop has been delighting sweet
tooths since 1969. Rheo Thompson is known for their artisanal chocolates and nostalgic treats.
Don’t leave here without a few of their signature Mint Smoothies. (If you are not a mint fan, they
do have other flavours). After lunch and browsing downtown on our own, we will board the bus
and head over to Junction 56 Distillery for a guided tour and tasting. Junction 56 is a craft
distillery known for producing spirits in small batches from locally sourced grains. They offer
varieties of vodka, gin & whisky as well as unique liqueurs such as the Rheo Thompson
Chocolate Smoothie Liqueur, Chocolate liqueur, coffee liqueur, cinnamon whiskey & of course
maple whiskey. Don’t drink too much though, after our tasting we are heading back to the hotel
to prepare for our included dinner at the Parlour Inn, and then off to the Festival Theatre for
an evening performance of musical comedy ‘Guys & Dolls’.
