Fall Foliage – Upper Michigan Featuring Tahquamenon Falls Tuesday, October 01, 2024 Join us for a historical and scenic drive, to take in the fall colours along some stretches of Lake Superior and upper Michigan wilderness. If not exploring just enjoy the ride, and resting at attractions, and a delicious meal. Level: moderate. – To make the most of this adventure, extended walking, rough terrain, and stairs is required. Tues, Oct 1st - We will depart Walmart North Parking lot at 8:00am and make our way to Newberry. Here we will visit the Tahquamenon Logging Museum and nature study area. Venture into the Robust Life of the Newberry Area Lumberjack. Explore original buildings and memorabilia from that bygone era. We will then make our way to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, to take in the many views of the upper and lower falls along trails or just shop in the gift shop or just warm up with a warm drink from the pub. We will have a delicious group pub luncheon included, and a chance to sample their brews (if you choose to, cost on your own). Meals: Lunch We will then travel up to the Lake Superior Coastal area in Paradise Michigan to visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. Throughout the complex visitors will see maritime legends come to life, such as the Edmund Fitzgerald Exhibit. Enjoy a viewing from the Video Theatre. With climbing of steps comes spectacular views of the area. Among the buildings, is the restored Whitefish Point Light Station and the Shipwreck Coast Museum Store. Lots to do during your visit. We make our way home along the scenic, South Shore of Lake Superior. We arrive home in the evening.
